During the congress, 5 scientific communications were distinguished. The selection criteria were scientific quality, originality, accessibility, potential impact and for poster also the visual quality. The laureates were:
Yusuf Nadi Karatay was awarded “Best EFITA 2017 oral presentation – student” for his talk: “Economic potential of site-specific N fertilizer application when N supply is restricted” written with co-authors Andreas Meyer-Aurich and Markus Gandorfer. The jury found the talk innovative, based on solid methodological foundations, and well argumented
Till-Fabian Minßen was awarded “Best EFITA 2017 oral presentation” for his talk “Robots for plant-specific care operations in arable farming – concept and technological requirements for the operation of robot swarms for plant care tasks” The jury specially appreciated the systemic approach of agricultural robotics.
The jury also awarded a special mention to Roberto Fray Da Silva for his talk “A simulation model for the implementation of RFID on the raw sugar supply chain” and his also remarked talk “A traceability model for the Brazilian wine supply chain” both written with co-author Carlos Cugnasca.
The “Best EFITA 2017 poster communication – #DigitAg laureate” was awarded to David Colliaux and Peter Hanappe for their poster entitled LettuceThink : A open and versatile robotic platform for weeding and crop monitoring on microfarms.

The “Best EFITA 2017 poster communication – vote of delegates” was awarded to Rimtautas Petraitis, Gintare Kucinskiene and Ilma Rimkeviciene for their poster entitled Electronic services of information, consultation and training in implementing integrated plant protection IKMIS.
